MoPilot vs Granola: the same audio, and far more of the call
Granola got the architecture right — no meeting bot, audio taken from your own computer. MoPilot makes the same choice and then keeps going: it answers while the call is still running, reads your screen, and speaks thirteen languages. Granola describes itself as a notepad. This is the other half of the meeting.
Credit where it is owed. As of 27 August 2026, granola.ai describes itself as "The AI notepad for back-to-back meetings", says plainly "Without a meeting bot", and explains that it "Uses your computer audio, so doesn’t invite a bot". That is the same architectural decision MoPilot makes, and it is the right one — most of this category still dials a bot into your call.
So the usual argument does not apply here, and a better one takes its place. Both products hear the call without joining it. Only one of them does anything with that while the call is still going.
What MoPilot does with the same audio
- Answers the question that was just asked, on one keystroke, grounded in documents you supplied beforehand
- Takes a question about what is on your screen and answers from the screen
- Puts a translation line on screen when the call is in a language you work in — thirteen of them
- Puts the answer on your phone as a second screen, over your own Wi-Fi
- Shapes the write-up by the occasion you picked, so an interview and a client call do not get the same headings
The difference, in one sentence
A notepad makes the notes you were already taking better. A copilot gives you something to say. If the meetings that cost you most are the ones where you knew the answer was in a file you did not have open, a better notepad does not reach that problem and this does.
